Vertigo
Guanaja
Dive Site Photos
Summary
Vertigo is an offshore wall dive on Guanaja's barrier reef known for steep vertical drop-offs and dramatic wall topography. The reef edge is encrusted with tropical corals, sponges and black coral and features abundant crinoids, making the sessile invertebrate life a standout feature.
Access is by dive boat; the dive begins on a shallow reef ledge around 11 m and follows a sheer wall down to about 50 m, with a sandy shelf near 18 m where divers often pause. Visibility is generally excellent (often 20-30 m), currents are typically mild, and water temperatures are around the high 20s °C. This is a deep wall dive suited to experienced, advanced-certified divers and requires careful dive planning and good buoyancy control; it is an open-water dive with no overhead environment.
