Summary

Tuna Alley is an offshore coral-reef wall and canyon system off North Cat Cay in the Bimini Islands, named for the large schools of Atlantic bluefin tuna that frequently pass along the reef. The site offers steep walls, pinnacles, caverns, overhangs and swim-through tunnels within a healthy, pristine coral system and is widely regarded as one of Bimini's most popular dives. Accessible by boat only, typical dives follow the main reef wall and channels and are often drift dives when the Gulf Stream flows through the canyon. Depths range from reef tops around 15–50 ft down to about 100 ft at the base; visibility is commonly 60–100 ft. Water temperatures are typically about 70–77 °F in winter and 78–86 °F in summer. Moderate to strong currents and occasional surge occur, so the site is best suited to intermediate or advanced divers with good buoyancy control and drift-dive planning.
