Summary
The Chimney is a coral-reef site centered on a small limestone islet featuring a distinctive vertical 'chimney' swim-through and interconnected tunnels. The surrounding reef has healthy hard and soft corals, barrel sponges, sea fans and lush coral gardens among boulders, and the site is renowned for its swim-throughs and rich marine life.
Dives range from about 5 m at the surface entrances to roughly 30 m along the deep wall; most dives remain within open-water limits (max 30 m). Access is by boat mooring with descent from the boat. Currents are generally mild though guides note occasional strong surge; visibility is typically good (often over 10–20 m) and water temperatures are warm (around the high 20s °C in the dry season). The vertical shaft and tunnels create a partial overhead environment without surface access inside, one narrow tunnel is recommended only for advanced divers, and proper buoyancy control and appropriate certification are required. Guided routes commonly include a 15–20 minute swim through the cavern before exiting into a sheltered opening and continuing along the reef slopes or deep wall.
