Summary

Table Coral City is an offshore pinnacle reef topped by extensive table-shaped stony corals, with the summit carpeted in table, staghorn and cabbage corals and slopes draped in hard and soft corals, sea fans and sponges. The colourful coral garden attracts schooling anthias and fusiliers, is patrolled by chevron barracuda and giant trevally, and frequently hosts resting green sea turtles; macro life such as ribbon eels, frogfish and octopus are regularly seen. Dives typically begin at the shallow summit and circle or spiral down the coral-covered slopes to a maximum depth of around 30 m. The site is accessed by boat (about a 15–20 minute ride from Tomia/Waiti'i), visibility is often 20–30 m and water temperatures are roughly 26–30 °C. Tidal currents can occur so dives are usually scheduled for slack or high tide for milder conditions; divers should maintain good buoyancy and avoid contact with the reef. The site lies within protected park waters and no-touching regulations apply.
