Summary
Superman’s Flight is a boat-accessed drift dive beneath the sheer volcanic wall of Petit Piton, featuring a steep coral reef slope with plate and brain corals, soft corals, sea fans, large barrel sponges and coral-encrusted pinnacles. Strong currents past the base of the Piton create a sensation of “flying” along the drop-off, and the site is widely regarded as one of the most popular dive sites in the Soufrière Pitons region. Marine life is abundant, with over 150 reef fish species recorded and frequent sightings of large schools of Creole wrasse, Caribbean spiny lobsters and hawksbill turtles.
Divers back-roll from a boat at the reef edge and drift southward with the prevailing current. Most dives remain in the mid-depth range of about 12-18 meters, though some profiles start near 30 meters before ascending. Water temperatures are typically in the high 20s °C. Currents are moderate to strong due to the exposed location and topography; open-water certification is suitable for the shallower drift route, while advanced certification is recommended for the deeper profiles.
