Shark Point
Phi Phi Islands
Dive Site Photos
Summary
Shark Point is an offshore pinnacle reef centered on three coral-covered pinnacles; the northernmost protrudes a few meters above the surface while the other two top out around 5-10 m. The site is well known for frequent sightings of resting leopard (zebra) sharks and supports vibrant hard and soft coral gardens, large sea fans, and dense tropical fish life. It is a very popular day-trip dive from Phuket or Phi Phi and lies within a marine national park.
Dives are typically drift dives along the pinnacles with maximum depths around 24-30 m. Currents are commonly moderate to strong running north-south; groups usually descend by rope or free descent on the northern pinnacle and drift south, or enter at the southern pinnacles if the current is reversing. Visibility often ranges around 10-20 m, surface conditions can be choppy, and water temperatures are about 27-29 °C year-round. The site is boat-access only; divers should be prepared for strong currents and busy dive traffic in high season.
