Tubbataha Reef

Dive Site Photos

Summary

Shark Airport is a broad coral reef plateau starting around 15 m that slopes down to a sheer shelf at about 25 m. The flattened reef top has sandy patches and coral bommies where sharks often rest, and the site is renowned for fertile coral growth and abundant large marine life. The site is accessed only by liveaboard boat. Typical dives range from 15 to 25 m, with moderate to strong currents that often make it a drift dive; visibility is usually very clear and water temperatures are tropical, around the high 20s °C. Because of the currents and depth it is best suited to experienced open-water divers, and night dives on the shallow plateau are popular for spotting nocturnal species.
