Summary

SD Point is a long drift dive featuring a wide, shallow coral plateau about 4-6 m deep off a white-sand shore, with steeper sloping walls and coral canyons descending into deeper water. The terrain is covered in mixed hard and soft corals supporting a rich reef ecosystem; sandy ledges on the plateau are common resting spots for sea turtles and the site can produce sightings of schooling barracuda, reef sharks and seasonal pelagics such as mola-mola, eagle rays or mantas. The site is accessed from a boat, descending onto the reef wall or slope and drifting with the current along the reef. Most interesting sights are between roughly 5 m and 25 m. Visibility is generally good, often 15-30 m or more, and water temperatures range from about 24 C to 28 C. Currents are typically moderate to strong, with possible sudden changes in direction, so divers should stay close to the reef and be prepared for swift current; safety stops are made along the reef. The dive is generally recommended for experienced divers.
