Summary
Playa Kalki is a small cove shore dive known for an extensive hard- and soft-coral garden beginning in shallow water and a nearby Reef Renewal Curaçao coral nursery, giving the site a distinctive underwater "garden" character. It is a popular shore dive and snorkel site and serves as the house reef of a local dive center. Marine life is abundant, with frequent sightings of green sea turtles, green moray eels, Caribbean spiny lobster, parrotfish, trumpetfish and southern eagle rays.
Entry is from a white sandy beach with steps and the reef is reachable by a short snorkel. The reef slope starts around 5–10 m, levels off across horizontal plateaus and coral ridges, and extends past 30 m in deeper sections. Water temperatures are typically 26–29 °C with visibility often 20–30 m and usually light currents. There is no overhead environment but sharp coral outcrops make good buoyancy control important; frequent boat traffic means ascending divers should use a surface marker buoy, and touching or standing on coral is prohibited, especially around the protected nursery areas.
