Paso Del Cedral

Dive Site Photos
Summary
Paso del Cedral is a popular coral-reef drift dive within Cozumel Marine Park, featuring sloping terrain, coral-covered ridges, mounds, overhangs, large sponges and several small caverns or swim-throughs; experienced divers often continue on to a dramatic vertical wall. The reef is rich in schooling fish and invertebrates and is widely regarded as one of the most frequently dived reef sites in the Cozumel area.
Diving is typically by boat and rated intermediate, run as a drift with moderate to strong currents. Depths along the reef are generally about 10–18 m, with the reef bottoming near 18 m and the wall dropping much deeper beyond recreational limits. Visibility is usually very good, often around 30 m or more, and water temperatures average about 25–28 °C year-round. Expect surge in places and potentially high air consumption on long drifts; maintain buoyancy to avoid damaging coral, be prepared for drift conditions, and exercise caution near the wall and in the short swim-throughs.
