Panorama Reef

Summary
Panorama Reef is a very large, elongated oval coral formation with two main plateaus and extensive steep walls, offering panoramic underwater vistas, dense coral gardens and gorgonian sea fans. A notable anemone field on the southwest corner (sometimes called "Nemo City") hosts clown anemonefish and other reef fish, and the reef’s size and varied terrain mean multiple dives are often needed to explore the north and south sections fully.
Access is by boat, with mooring buoys usually set on the southern end and boats typically approaching from Safaga (about a 60–75 minute ride). The reef slopes from shallow tops around 4–6 m down to about 30–35 m, then drops off into deep water beyond 80–100 m. Moderate to strong currents commonly flow along the reef so drift and out-and-back dives are normal; visibility is generally excellent (often 20 m or more) and water temperatures are typically in the mid-20 °C range. Advanced certification is recommended, divers should plan safety stops on shallower reef areas such as the anemone garden, and be aware of significant hazards including strong or ripping currents (including near moorings), vertical walls and drop-offs, rough offshore conditions in wind, and natural cautions like stonefish in coral crevices.
