Summary
Meno Slope is a popular boat-access site featuring a broad, gently sloping reef with patches of white sand, coral bommies and two stepping reef walls that descend from about 3 m to roughly 25-30 m. A statue of two hugging figures at about 3 m is a notable shallow attraction that draws divers and snorkelers, and the site is known for its rich marine life and is frequently dived both day and night.
Divers typically enter from a boat and drift along the slope, starting in shallow sand-and-coral areas and following reef faces and overhangs downhill into deeper water; depths range from near the surface (statue area) to about 25-30 m, with many shallower sections around 5-10 m. Visibility is generally good, often around 20-30 m on clear days, and water temperatures are typically in the high 20s °C. Moderate to strong currents are common, so dives are planned around tidal flow and experienced drift-diving skills are recommended; boat traffic near the statue and occasional strong offshore currents are noted.
The Bounty pontoon wreck, intentionally sunk about a decade ago, lies on the northern end of the slope at roughly 10-12 m and is now encrusted with coral, serving as an extension of the reef.
