Summary

Masaplod South lies within the Masaplod Marine Sanctuary in Dauin and features a gently sloping black sand bottom with patches of algae and coral. Two main reef sections, a shallower coral area and a deeper coral slope, create a mix of reef and sandy macro habitats that commonly host frogfish, pipefish, garden eels and schools of reef fish. Depths range from about 5 m to 23 m on a generally gentle slope. The site is typically accessed by a short boat ride from the Dauin shore, currents are generally mild and conditions calm, making it suitable for open-water certified divers. Water temperatures are typically around 27-30 °C and visibility is usually moderate, often 10-15 m. A typical dive involves cruising along the sandy slope and coral patches to search for macro species and schooling reef fish.
