Summary
Marsa Shouni is a large, shallow bay with a gently sloping coral reef and seagrass meadow, featuring broad sand plateaus, table corals, scattered coral blocks and coral gardens toward the southern end. The site offers relaxed, easy diving often used for check dives or liveaboard safari stops and is rarely crowded. Resident dugongs are known in the bay and turtles frequent the seagrass.
The reef slopes gradually from about 2 to 25 m with no dramatic walls; a typical route follows the outer reef north of the mooring then circles back inside the bay or stays around the boat. Conditions are usually calm with mild southerly currents and visibility is generally good but can fall with tidal changes. Entry is normally by boat (RIB drop-off or mooring) though a shoreline staircase entry is available; water temperatures are warm year-round.
