Lesleen M Wreck
Anse La Raye
Dive Site Photos
Summary
The Lesleen M Wreck is an intentionally sunken 50-meter inter-island freighter lying upright on the seabed off the west coast near Anse La Raye. The largely intact wreck is heavily colonized by coral and sponges and is surrounded by abundant reef fish, making it a popular artificial-reef dive.
Boat access only; divers descend the fixed mooring line onto the wreck which sits in about 18–22 m depth with a maximum around 22 m. Water temperatures are about 26–28 °C and visibility is generally good, often 15–30 m. Currents are typically mild though occasional surge or particulate curtains can occur. The site has no overhead environment and is suitable for open-water level divers. Typical routes follow the main deck with entries into the cargo hold and engine room through openings; care is advised to avoid entanglement or contact with sharp steel and growing coral.
The 50 m freighter was scuttled upright in 1986 by the fisheries department to create an artificial reef. Notable features include a prominent mooring line for descent and ascent and an intact pilothouse rising about 13 m above the keel.
