Lekuan I

Bunaken

Dive Site Photos

Summary

Lekuan I is a dramatic reef wall dive featuring a steep vertical drop-off covered with dense hard and soft corals, large sea fans and sponges, plus crevices, small caves and canyon-like overhangs. Marine life is a main attraction, including green sea turtles, resting white-tip and black-tip reef sharks, large reef fish such as Napoleon (humphead) wrasse and bumphead parrotfish, and schools of anthias and fusiliers. Typical dive profile: depths about 20 to 40 m; visibility generally good, often around 15 to 30 m on clear days; surface water temperatures mid-20s °C up to about 30 °C. The site is boat-access only and dives are usually conducted as drift or boat-drift profiles; currents can become moderate to strong at times. Because of the depth, currents and complex terrain, the site is recommended for experienced or advanced divers.
