Lamptons Wall and Tunnel Wall
Nassau
Dive Site Photos
Summary
Lamptons Wall and Tunnel Wall are neighboring sections of a northern reef drop-off off Nassau featuring complex coral-covered ledges and natural tunnel-like swim-throughs. The dive begins over a shallow reef garden around 30–40 feet with soft corals and sea fans, then follows a sheer wall plunging to roughly 100 feet; large reef fish patrol the wall’s edge and larger pelagic species are often seen in the orbital currents.
The site is boat access only, with operators dropping anchor or using a mooring on or near the wall. Currents are generally mild, allowing divers to move in either direction along the wall; visibility is typically very good, often 50–100 feet, and water temperatures are about 78–86°F. Divers can explore tunnels and ledges from the reef top down the wall and ascend along the reef top back to the boat; good buoyancy control and proper planning for the deeper sections are advised, and no unusual hazards beyond standard open-water precautions are reported.
