La Lobera Coronado Island
Isla Coronado
Dive Site Photos
Summary
La Lobera is a rocky reef and wall dive on the southern side of Isla Coronado in Loreto Bay National Park, featuring steep volcanic rock walls and outcrops covered in soft corals and sea fans. A resident colony of California sea lions is a notable attraction and large reef fishes such as groupers and Pacific barracuda are commonly seen.
Diving depths range from about 10 meters to 30 meters with walls plunging into deeper water. The site is reached by dive boat with giant-stride or back-roll entries; visibility is generally good and water temperatures run from the high teens °C in winter to around 30°C in late summer. Moderate currents and the deeper sections make this a dive for experienced divers, and the site lies within a protected marine park where fishing and collecting are prohibited.
