Koh Torinla

Surin Islands

Dive Site Photos

Summary

Koh Torinla (Koh Khai) is a small island dive site in the Surin Islands with extensive sloping reef and coral gardens of hard and soft corals wrapping around much of the island, especially on the east and south sides. Shallow waters, a sandy bay and coral channels on the southeast make it popular for both scuba diving and snorkeling, and the reef is described as healthy and rich in marine life. Dives are boat-only with depths from a few metres near shore to about 20-25 m on the deeper slopes; an offshore pinnacle rises from deep sand and is often beyond 25 m. Water temperatures in the dive season (November to May) are in the mid to high 20s °C and visibility is generally good. Currents are usually moderate but can become stronger or unpredictable, particularly around the offshore pinnacle, so divers may drift along the reef and the pinnacle is generally recommended for more experienced divers. There are no wrecks or caves, and the site is within Mu Ko Surin National Park so no fishing or anchoring on coral.
