Dive Site Photos
Summary
Hin Yippon is a small rocky island dive site featuring a prominent half-submerged arched cavern and numerous swim-throughs that create an overhead environment through the island. The site has a healthy coral reef with large boulders, pinnacles, sandy patches and colorful soft coral gardens on the shallow slopes; the tunnel-like cavern and multiple short swim-through passages are the main attractions.
Dives typically range from the surface down to about 24 m, with common routes circling the island at roughly 10–18 m to visit coral gardens and swim-throughs. Visibility is usually moderate, often 5–20 m on a good day but can drop to around 3–5 m in deeper or particulate waters. Currents are generally mild but can strengthen at times. Entry is by boat only; the surface can be exposed to wind and swell so boat conditions may be rough. The cavern is fully accessible only at high tide and buoyancy control is important when passing through the partially flooded cave and swim-throughs.
