Dive Site Photos
Summary
Hans Reef is a patch-reef site of scattered bommies, large pinnacles and a central coral mound, notable for a deep protrusion called "Turtle Rock" often hosting resting green turtles. The site is famed for abundant macro life and varied critters and is frequently used for night dives to observe nocturnal species.
Suitable for all levels and commonly used for training and drift dives, depths range from about 5 to 25 m with most diving on gentle slopes; typical routes start on sandy flats at about 7–10 m and follow the reef slope past seagrass fields. Visibility is generally good (often 20–30 m) and water temperatures are typically around 26–30 °C year-round. Entry is by boat (short 5–10 minute ride) and currents can vary from calm to occasionally strong, so drift diving is common and divers should be prepared for moderate currents.
