Halik And Deep Halik
Gili Islands
Dive Site Photos
Summary
Halik and Deep Halik are adjacent coral-reef slopes on the northwestern side of Gili Trawangan, featuring dense hard and soft corals, coral bommies, ridges, canyons, gorgonian sea fans and barrel sponges that create varied topography and an aquarium-like diving experience. The reef supports abundant reef fish and commonly seen hawksbill and green sea turtles, with occasional sightings of larger pelagics and species such as Napoleon wrasse and bumphead parrotfish in deeper water.
Dives are accessed by boat and typically drift along the slope, beginning on a shallow fringing reef at about 4-6 m and descending into ridges and canyons that reach roughly 35-40 m. Currents are generally mild to moderate so drift dives are common, though currents can strengthen around tidal flows; visibility is usually good and conditions are generally calm. Deep Halik approaches 40 m, so advanced certification and occasional use of technical or nitrox procedures are recommended for full exploration.
