Gan Inside
Addu Atoll
Dive Site Photos
Summary
Gan Inside is a gentle sloping coral reef just inside the Gan Kandu channel at the eastern end of Gan Island in Addu Atoll, Maldives. It has a shallow reef top with wide sandy grooves and coral gardens, a small steep wall beginning around 5 m, and a slope down to a deeper sandy bottom with scattered coral blocks and bommies. Large rays, including stingrays and spotted eagle rays, are often seen resting on the sand and schools of pelagic fish such as mackerel and trevallies are common, making it a popular beginner-friendly site.
Divers typically descend from the shallow reef top at about 2-3 m down the slope to roughly 14-15 m at the base of the wall, with a maximum depth near 25 m. Conditions are typically calm with mild currents due to the site being inside the channel; visibility is often good though variable, and water temperatures are generally in the high 20s °C. Access is by dive boat and the site is well suited to open-water, novice, and intermediate divers; no specific hazards are documented beyond normal reef dive precautions.
