Fish Bowl

Fish Bowl is a deep coral-reef site off the south-east coast of Molokai featuring a bowl-shaped rock formation surrounded by healthy coral outcrops. Divers follow a sloping reef with stacked ledges around 50-60 feet and a steep wall that continues past 100 feet. The abundant live coral supports dense schools of tropical fish, and sightings commonly include surgeonfish, tangs, jacks, snappers, white-tip reef sharks, octopus, eagle rays, and frequent Hawaiian green sea turtles. Accessible only by boat, the site is typically done as a drift dive with moderate to strong currents driven by the nearby Pailolo Channel and often has limited or no mooring. Water temperatures are about 76-80°F and visibility is commonly 50-100 feet. Because of the depth and currents the site is recommended for experienced/advanced divers; standard boat-dive procedures and carrying an SMB for ascent are advised. Main hazards noted are the strong currents and the depth.
