Figure Eight Rock

Summary
Figure Eight Rock is a remote limestone reef of two large underwater pinnacles joined in a figure-eight, producing a complex labyrinth of swim-throughs, crevices, overhangs and coral-covered ledges. Both pinnacles support rich hard and soft corals, sea fans and sponges, and colorful reef fish are abundant in the coral gardens.
Access is by boat (typically liveaboard) with tender entry and exit. Dives are commonly drift dives along the pinnacles, following reef crests into deeper channels; depth range is about 5 to 30 metres. Currents are moderate to strong with occasional swift channels between the pinnacles, visibility is often over 20 metres and water temperatures are about 27-30 °C. Typical routes begin at one pinnacle and circle through tunnels and around large boulders; the main hazards noted are the currents and overhead swim-throughs, so experience with drift diving and navigating crevices is recommended.
