Summary
Eel Gardens is an open coral reef and wall dive accessed by boat that begins on a broad white sand plain where thousands of garden eels protrude vertically and then plunges along a steep, coral-encrusted wall, offering two distinct environments in one dive.
Shallow sand is around 5-6 m, the wall becomes visible at roughly 20-30 m and continues to about 35 m. Conditions are typically calm and clear, with water temperatures of about 26-30 °C and visibility often exceeding 20 m in the dry season; currents are usually very mild though occasional drift along the reef face can occur. Entry is by boat at a mooring line and dives are generally run at or near high tide because the shallow reef platform makes entry difficult at low tide. There are no overhead environments or wrecks and no unusual hazards beyond normal reef diving precautions; the area is protected as a marine reserve.
