Duppy Waters

Utila

Dive Site Photos

Summary

Duppy Waters is a classic wall dive on the north side of Utila at the edge of the Turtle Harbor Marine Reserve. The shallow reef crest is covered in sponges and corals and the site features a steep drop-off into deep blue; large barrel sponges (some over 1.8 meters tall) are a notable feature. It is widely regarded as one of the most popular and frequently dived sites in the Utila area. Access is by dive boat using two marked mooring buoys; divers enter at the buoys, swim over the shallow reef out to the drop-off, and follow the wall until two sand patches near the buoy lines are used to navigate back to the boat for ascent. Reported maximum depths are around 30 meters, visibility is typically good (often 15–30 meters), currents are generally light, and conditions are considered calm enough for open-water certified divers.
