Summary

Dos Ojos is a pair of adjacent cenote sinkholes connected by a submerged cavern system, renowned for crystal-clear fresh water and dramatic limestone formations. Two main routes are followed: the Barbie Line, a wide, well-lit cavern with stalactites, stalagmites, columns and light beams, and the Bat Cave, a darker chamber that leads to a large air dome where hundreds of bats can be seen. The site is a shore-entry, guided cavern/cave experience accessed via jungle steps. Maximum depth is around 8–10 m, visibility is often tens of meters, water temperature about 24–26 °C, and there is virtually no current. Divers must use permanent guidelines, maintain strict buoyancy control, and have at least cavern/cave training; the environment is overhead and hazards include the ceilings and the risk of becoming lost or panicking. An entrance fee is charged at the protected park.
