Dhigali Haa

Baa Atoll

Dive Site Photos

Summary

Dhigali Haa is a submerged pinnacle rising from about 30 metres to a reef top at 8-12 metres, with colourful soft corals, encrusting algae and scattered Acropora colonies. The feature has numerous overhangs, ledges and detached coral blocks forming swim-throughs, and is noted for healthy reef fish populations including large schools of fusiliers and snappers, patrolling batfish and jacks, frequent barracudas and trevallies, and occasional grey reef and whitetip sharks. The dive is typically done as a boat drift dive, entering in open water, dropping in on the up-current side and following the current around the pinnacle. Currents are moderate to strong, visibility often exceeds 20 metres, and water temperatures are around 27-30°C. The reef top sits at about 8-12 metres and slopes to roughly 30 metres, so the site is recommended for intermediate to advanced divers with drift-diving experience and appropriate equipment. Hazards noted are sharp coral and occasional strong surge in currents. The site lies within a Marine Protected Area in the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve with restricted fishing, contributing to its well preserved reef.
