Crocker Reef

Crocker Reef is an offshore spur-and-groove coral reef in the Upper Florida Keys, prized for its rich reef ecology and diverse marine life. The site features healthy staghorn and brain corals, sea fans, sponges, scattered coral heads and sandy areas, with abundant tropical reef fish and invertebrates. Dives are conducted from a boat, typically on mooring buoys, with depths from about 30 ft on the reef crest to roughly 90 ft on the outer slopes. Visibility is often good, frequently 50–80 ft in favorable conditions, and water temperatures range from the low 70s °F in winter to the mid-80s °F in summer. Currents are generally mild but can vary; topography includes ledges, small overhangs and swim-throughs. No major hazards are noted beyond standard reef diving precautions and the need to be aware of boat traffic.
