Summary

Coral Garden is a shallow fringing reef about 150 meters long with a gently sloping black-sand bottom covered in table and other hard corals, soft corals, anemones and sponges. Scattered sunken statues and sculptures, including figures of Buddha and Hindu deities, serve as artificial reefs and photogenic features, and the site is widely popular and frequently dived; its shallow depth and variety of small reef life make it a common introductory or second dive. Typical diving depths range from about 3 to 15 meters. Conditions are generally calm with very little current, visibility is often 15-30 meters on clear days, and water temperatures are typically in the high 20s °C; entry is from shore by walking in or a short surface swim and the reef’s gentle gradient makes navigation easy. Caution is advised to avoid damaging delicate corals and the embedded statues.
