Christ Statue / Christ Of The Abyss

The Christ of the Abyss dive site centers on the life-sized concrete statue of Jesus Christ mounted on a three-tiered pedestal on the Dry Rocks patch reef near Key Largo. The monument sits at about 24 ft and is surrounded by spur-and-groove reef formations, coral heads, and sandy channels, creating a shallow, iconic, and widely popular entry-level recreational dive. Access is by boat, typically via a mooring buoy. Depths range roughly from 15 to 40 ft, and a typical dive begins at the statue with divers circling the monument and then exploring nearby coral pinnacles, swim-throughs, ridges, and channels. Water temperatures commonly run in the 70s to 80s °F and visibility is often 60 to 100 ft or more. Currents are usually mild but can change; there are no major overhead or deep hazards, and divers must follow sanctuary rules such as not touching the coral or the statue.
