Blue Magic

Raja Ampat

Dive Site Photos

Summary

Blue Magic is a deep ocean pinnacle in the Dampier Strait of Raja Ampat, rising from about 7 m below the surface to beyond 30 m. The pinnacle top has coral outcrops and cleaning stations, and the site is renowned for plankton-rich currents that attract abundant pelagic life, notably oceanic manta rays, grey reef sharks and large schools of jacks, barracuda and tunas. Dives are typically drift boat dives with a negative entry and a quick descent to the reef; depths range from about 7–10 m at the top to around 30 m at the base. Visibility is commonly 20–25 m and water temperature about 27–30 °C. Strong, often unpredictable currents and surge are the primary hazards; divers use good buoyancy control, may employ a reef hook at cleaning stations, and guides usually plan dives around slack tide. Boat access only; recommended for experienced divers.
