Dive Site Photos
Summary
Black Forest is a steep coral reef slope noted for abundant hard and soft corals, sponges, and a high diversity of reef life. Its name derives from dense stands of black coral and clusters of dark-colored crinoids in the deeper sections, which are primary attractions for divers.
Access is by moored boat with a descent along the slope from a reef top at about 7–8 m to a maximum depth of about 30–40 m. Visibility is generally 15–20 m and water temperature typically 24–28 °C. The site frequently experiences medium to strong currents and drifting is common, so plan accordingly and maintain good buoyancy; there are no overhead environments or wrecks, and the dive is best suited to experienced recreational or advanced-certified divers.
