Summary
Bajo Dos Amigos is an underwater seamount off Cocos Island with a crown-shaped summit and extensive coral growth, including distinctive deep-water black coral colonies on its rocky faces, forming a complex reef-like habitat. Marine life is a major attraction, with frequent large schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks, common rays (mobula and manta), spotted eagle rays, patrolling sailfish and occasional whale sharks.
Dives are boat-based from liveaboards to the pinnacle, typically descending to about 30 m; water temperature is around 26°C and visibility is often very clear, up to 30 m. The site is in open ocean with open-ocean currents and is rated for advanced divers with good buoyancy control.
