Summary
Arrobec Jetty is a shallow coral-reef dive at the old wooden pier of Arborek Island, with coral-encrusted jetty pilings and adjacent coral gardens covered in colorful soft corals and sponges. The site is renowned for high biodiversity, with small critters such as pygmy seahorses, frogfish and nudibranchs living on the corals, large schools of reef fish around the pillars, and occasional reef manta rays passing overhead.
Depths range about 5-18 m, visibility is typically 15-25 m and water temperatures are around 27-30 °C. Divers usually enter from a boat moored at the jetty; the site is mostly sheltered but tidal flows from the Dampier Strait can become moderate to strong, often producing drift dives along the reef slope and prompting the use of reef hooks to hold position. Typical routes circle the pillars and explore the gentle slope; primary hazards noted are strong currents at times and boat traffic at the surface.
