Summary

Anemone City is an unusual reef in Ras Mohammed National Park featuring a broad coral-covered plateau with an unusually large aggregation of sea anemones and their resident two-banded clownfish. A coral-encrusted ship anchor and extensive table, hard and soft corals create vibrant anemone gardens that attract large pelagic fish, reef sharks and hawksbill turtles. Dives are commonly done as drift dives, typically accessed by boat though shore entry is possible but less frequent. The plateau begins in shallow water around 2–5 m and slopes to about 20–25 m where a steep wall drops into the deep blue. Conditions generally include very clear water and temperatures in the mid-20s °C; medium-to-strong, sometimes unpredictable currents are common, so divers must maintain buoyancy and situational awareness and be alert for surface boat traffic. The site is noted as suitable for experienced or advanced divers.
