Air Slope
Gili Islands
Dive Site Photos
Summary
Air Slope is a gently sloping patch reef close to Gili Air with a sandy bottom peppered by coral bommies and rocky outcrops. The site is popular with photographers and beginner divers because marine life is abundant around the bommies, with frequent sightings of hawksbill turtles grazing in the shallows, a variety of reef fishes and rays, and notable macro life such as nudibranchs and ghost pipefish.
The reef descends gradually to roughly 20-25 meters. Conditions are generally calm and clear in the lee of Gili Air, with current usually none to weak and a mild drift at times. Visibility commonly ranges from about 15 to 25 meters and water temperatures are in the high twenties Celsius. Entry is typically by a short boat ride or, in calm conditions, a surface swim from the beach; dives proceed by descending the slope and drifting gently over the coral gardens. Suitable for open-water divers and often used for training and relaxed marine-life exploration.
