Summary

1000 Steps is a shore-entry coral-reef dive reached via a distinctive set of 67 concrete steps down to a white-sand beach sheltered by a limestone cliff. The site features a gentle sloping reef that abruptly drops at about 9-10 m into a steep, coral-covered wall and is renowned for its rich reef community with abundant marine life, including frequent sightings of hawksbill turtles and moray eels. Entry is primarily from shore via the steps (boats may moor outside the reef in calm seas). The wall extends to about 30-40 m, though many dives explore the shallower slopes in the 5-20 m range. Currents are usually weak, visibility is typically very good (often around 25-30 m or more), and water temperatures are warm year-round, generally in the mid-20s to around 30 °C. The climb down and especially back up the 67 steps with diving gear can be strenuous, so divers should secure equipment and use railings; parking at the top is limited.
